Shipibo Tobacco Pipe
Crafted by the Pauyan Community, Pucallpa
Hand-carved from solid Shihuahuaco wood, this tobacco pipe is created by artisans from the Pauyan Shipibo community in Pucallpa, Peru.
Shihuahuaco is one of the most resilient hardwoods of the Amazon, valued for its density, durability, and rich golden-brown grain. Its strength ensures longevity, while its natural tones give each piece warmth and depth.
The pipe is sculpted in the form of a hummingbird — “Pino” in Shipibo — a sacred messenger in Amazonian cosmology. The hummingbird symbolizes precision, devotion, and the ability to move lightly between worlds.
Fine carved details trace the wings and body, while geometric engravings around the bowl reflect traditional Amazonian design language.
Each piece is carved and finished by hand. No two are exactly alike — variations in grain, tone, and carving are part of its authenticity.
